EDS111- MODULE 1 - 12 Principles

As I think about the twelve principles of successful teaching and learning, I am struck by how they apply to my life as both a future teacher and someone who wants to keep learning. Each principle is like a lighthouse that shows the way to making learning spaces that are lively, interesting, and safe for all students.

The first principle stresses how important it is for teachers to know a lot about the subject they are teaching in order to make learning worthwhile. As I start my journey to become a teacher, I am reminded of how important it is to keep learning more about the things I teach, because that is what makes for good teaching.

I really think that students learn best when they are actively involved in the learning process, so the principle of active involvement of the learner hits home for me. This concept shows how important hands-on activities, collaborative activities, and learning through experience are for helping people understand and remember things better.

Additionally, the focus on teacher-student interaction as the main factor in motivating and involving students highlights how important it is to build good and helpful relationships in the classroom. As someone who wants to become a teacher, I want to create a safe space where students can learn and feel free to share their thoughts and ideas.

I agree with the idea that students should be responsible for their own learning. I think that students should be encouraged to be autonomous and independent. Students can learn for the rest of their lives if they are encouraged to set goals, keep track of their progress, and take charge of their own learning.

There are many ways to learn, which is summed up in the concept "there are many roads to learning." As a teacher, it's important to understand and respect each student's unique learning style and tastes by giving them a variety of ways to interact with the material.

The idea that you have to expect more in order to get more strikes a chord with me as a call to hold myself and my kids to high standards. I can give my kids the tools they need to reach their full potential by encouraging them to be the best and never give up.

Collaboration is a main idea in the principles, which stress how important it is to work together and have useful interactions in order to improve learning. Setting up a collaborative environment helps students feel like they fit and are part of a community in the classroom, where they can learn from and help each other.

Giving useful input, like both positive and negative comments, is based on certain rules that show how important it is to keep testing and helping students learn. As a teacher, I know how important it is to give kids feedback that helps them grow and get better.

Time, energy, and experience are emphasised as important parts of the learning process. This shows how important it is to be dedicated, work hard, and keep reflecting on your learning goals.

Last but not least, the twelve principles of successful teaching and learning help me find my way as a teacher. By following these ideals, I promise to make learning spaces that are welcoming, interesting, and helpful for all students so that they can all do well and thrive.
